Allied troops and materiel, Omaha beach

alliedtroopsandmaterielomahabeach.jpg

A busy scene at Omaha Beach shortly after D-Day. The image is reversed, so on the right (should be left) we have LST 387 coming ashore with is bow doors already open, with much other shipping including blockships of Gooseberry number 2 offshore.

Small craft including Higgins Boats and DUKW's can be seen going back and forth, with three of the latter already ashore. The railway was of German origin, used during the construction of the defences in the area. Picture taken in the approximate location of Wn 62.
