American troops relax in a farm courtyard.

Troops of the 3rd Armoured Division relax in the courtyard of a French farm after the fighting to capture Coutances on the 29th of July. One of the troops is takeing the chance to have a shave standing to the right of the picture, as the French farmer enters his home with his back to the camera.

Also in the crowded courtyard are two Harley Davidson 750 WLA motorbikes, a Jeep and a staff car to the left of the picture.
