Bailey Bridge over the Taute River, Carentan.

This bridge was built under shell fire by the 300th Combat Engineer Bn to replace the previous bridge destroyed by the retreating Germans. Major John Tucker was killed by the shellfire as the bridge was being built on the 27th of June and so the bridge was named after him.

On the right of the bridge is a Caterpillar D-4 equipped with a LeTourneau Model E4 Bulldozer kit with two GMC 353 trucks behind it.

Amazingly, the bridge is still in use, a testement to the design.
