Generalleutnant Otto Elfeldt calmly smokes a cigarette before he is questioned after his capture.

At the time of his capture he was the commander of LXXXIV Armee Korps. He was captured along with 29 officers of this staff in the Saint Lambert sur Dive area as the corridor to German held France out of the Falaise pocket was finally closed. He was captured by Polish troops of the 10 Cavalry Regiment (Pulk Strzelcow Konnych), the reconnaissance element of the 1st Polish Armoured Division.

He was quickly handed over to the Americans for further interrogation and is seen with a soldier of the 701st Tank Destroyer Bn. Later he was transferred to the UK and remained a prisoner of the British until 1948.
