This view of Rue Bayeux, Creully shows the town packed with Allied motor transport.

Creully was one of the first French towns liberated, being captured from the Germans on the afternoon of the 6th of June by British troops coming ashore from Gold Beach. This was also the point where Gold Beach linked up with Canadian troops coming ashore from Juno Beach.

The vehicle in the mid distance to the left is a Humber ambulance, to its right off the road is a BBC vehicle perhaps used by one of its war correspondents.

In the background the church spire is scared by a number of shell holes.
