Column of German POW's, Cherbourg

Captain W.H. Hooper, Company Commander, L Company, 314th IR, 79th ID leads a column of German POW's with officers at its head guarded by his men up the Cherbourg - Paris Road. They are heading south towards POW cages created in the Montagne du Roule area.

Captain Hooper was dead within a few days of this picture being taken, KIA in the La Haye-du-Puits area in early July.
