This view down the main road through the village bears witness to the fierce fighting that went on here between a battlegroup from the 4th Canadian Armoured Division and units of the 2nd Panzer Division.
In the forground are abandoned German trucks seemingly caught in an ambush. Beyond that on the right hand side of the road is an burnt out civilian coach, to its left a destroyed Sherman tank that has suffered a massive internal explosion that has blown its turret off the hull. In the far background can just be made out a column of German prisoners being marched away by Canadian troops.
