German prisoners, Domfront

German POW's under guard on rue des Fossés Plissons, Domfront. Note the rare mottled camouflage suits worn by the US troops. Known officially as " two-parts herringbone twill camouflage jungle suit" it is more commonly seen on US Marines in the Pacific theatre. It was issued for a very short period of time to two units of the US 2nd Armoured Division, the 17th Armored Engineer Bn. and the 41st Armored Infantry Rgt.

It was withdrawn within weeks due to its similarity with a scheme commonly used by Waffen SS troops.
