GI with knocked out SdKfz 251 Ausf. D

GI looks at the corpse of a German soldier behind a knocked out SdKfz 251 Ausf. D half track. American soldier is armed with M3 "Grease Gun" submachine gun. SdKfz 251 carries the SS registration S 926256 and was assigned to 1.SS-Panzer-Division Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler. Behind is NSU Kettenkrad HK-101 (Sd.Kfz. 2). In the background is Mortain railway station.

The German vehicles were knocked out by the 57mm AT guns of the 120th IR of 30th US ID (sergeant Miller Rhyne) and 3 inch AT guns of elements of 1st Platoon, A Company 823rd TD Battalion.
