Les Couplets Battery, near Cherbourg

This battery of 155mm K.420(f) artillery pieces overlooks Cherbourg city, it was manned by Batterie: 8./1261 HKAA (Heeres-Küsten-Artillerie-Abteilung) (Battery 8, 1261 Coastal Artillery Detachment.

This type of weapon was of French design and manufacture, being designed in WWI. Stocks were captured by the Germans and put to work defending, ironically, France.
