Located on the corner of rues Waldeck-Rousseau and Saint-Saver and the property known locally as "the house with the red roof" this grand residence was used by the Seekommandant Normandy, Konteradmiral Walter Hennecke. He had responsibility for the coast defences from the Mont-Saint-Michel area to the mouth of the Orne River.

After the liberation the property was used by the American forces.
