Open air memorial service, Rots

Open air Mass and memorial service giving thanks for the liberation Rots. The service was held on the 14th of July 1944 in the presence of French civilians and members of the 2nd Canadian Infantry division that was concentrated in the area after coming ashore on the 7th of July. Two of the Canadian units in the area (The RĂ©giment de Maisonneuve and the Fusiliers Mont Royal) were French speaking and supplied troops for the service. Also represented was the South Saskatchewan Regiment. These units were first commited to action in Operation Atlantic four days later.
