Closest to camera is a 75mm M8 Howitzer Motor Carriage self propelled gun nicknamed "Laxative". It is a equipped with a Culin hedgerow cutter. Second is a M4 (76w) medium tank. To the rear is another M8 self propelled gun firing on German positions held by Kampfgruppe Hausser and Kampfgruppe Schlee, formed from remaining combat capable elements of the Panzer Lehr and 275. Infanterie-Divisions respectively.

Of note is the depressed angle of the Shermans 76mm gun, indicating that it is engaging a target over the brow of the hill in front of it, a classic "Hull Down" position. Three troops in front of the tanks appear to be a mortar squad, the soldier in the rear carries a mortar tube.
