V1 launch ramp - 10km South East of Cherbourg

Located near the hamlet of Sorellerie, this is the launch ramp of V1 launch site 17. They were subject to heavy air attack as soon as they were identified, and the Germans took great effort to camouflage them, some of the camouflage netting can be seen further down the ramp. These fixed sites were also liberally supplied with light flak for their defence costing hundreds of Allied airmen their lives.

Eventually the Germans were forced to halt construction of large fixed sites and began using smaller semi mobile launchers.
