This area with its railway station and bridge over the Sienne was a communications chokepoint that recieved its fair share of attention from Allied air power.

In this picture a US convoy of GMC trucks pulling trailers winds its way from Coutances towards Cérences through the craters that litter the landscape and the road and over a section of temporary bridge that spans a destroyed section of the bridge that carries the D13 road over the Sienne

One of four pictures of the area taken after Combat Command B of the 4th Amoured Division under Brig Gen Holmes E. Dager liberated the area on the 29th of July 1944 as part of the fighting to close the Roncey pocket.
