Aerial view of destroyed German Equipment, Chambois area

A SdKfz 7 prime mover and another peice of motor transport lie abandoned near some civilian buildings that have apparently been gutted by fire. Picture taken on the 22nd of August after the end of most of the fighting in the area.

One of a series of low level pictures taken of destroyed German equipment that littered the Falaise Pocket area, much of it destroyed by Allied tactical airpower that roamed at will over the roads packed with the transport of the 7th Army as it tried to escape the pocket through the small corridor held open up to the 19th of August. Allied artillery and a simple shortage of fuel completed the loss of most of the armies transport and heavy weapons.
