The first provisional cemetery near Omaha was built near Vierville sur Mer, between the beach and the cliff in the vicinity of the home of Philippe Marchal. Here troops and French civilians including Mr Poidevin, Mayor of Colleville second on the left celebrate mass at the cemetry.

In the foreground can be seen a captain and sergeant of the 60th or 61st Medical Battalions attached to the 5th or 6th ESB.

Robert Capa, the famous war photographer was also filmed at this service.
