Three US troops walk past the ruins of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption, Colleville-sur-Mer. The tower was destroyed in the afternoon of June the 6th by shellfire from the US Navy destroyers USS Emmons (DD-457) and USS Harding (DD-625), either because it was being used by the Germans as an observation post as a proactive measure to prevent its use.
