The human cost of D-Day, on the German side.

Utah beach was defended by the 709 Static Infantry Division which actually contained a large number of "Ostlegionen" troops, recruited from occupied Eastern European countries and amongst Soviet POW's. It is quite possible that this unfortunate victim of war was not in fact German, but Georgian.
