To the immediate left of the station is the "quai de France" almost completely destroyed by German demolitions as is the station itself. Presumably the Germans feared that this would be the ideal facility for the Allies to land troops into France and put them directly onto trains for transportation to assembly areas behind the frontline.

In the water to the left of that is a folded up anti-submarine net.

On the right is a scuttled vessel, no doubt scuttled in that location to block access to to commercial basin beyond it.

On the right is the plage Napoléon and in the background is the city of Cherborg itself with the Fort du Roule rising up in the background.
