Colour photo of US troops on Juno beach

Rare colour picture of US toops on the Canadian Juno beach, taken by Ardean Miller and Steve Stevens of the US Signal Corps. They were the only US official photographers in the ETO using colour. Unfortunatley most of their work was lost after the war during a plane crash that killed Stevens.

On the right is specialst T5 wearing parachute boots and wearing the badge of a Special Engineer Brigade, possibly the 1st ESB. Behind him is a member of the same unit wears a helmet with the blue band identifying him as a member of a ESB. To the left is a sergeant probably of the same unit.

The 1st ESB worked on Utah beach assisting the unloading of troops and material and carrying out essential tasks such as laying roadway over the sand and clearing German obstructions.
