French civilian girl plays the violin for Allied troops.

Charlotte Coustenoble aged 13 plays the violin for some Commonwealth troops on July the 5th. Charlotte was a refugee from the fighting to take Rots from the occupying 12th SS, fighting which killed her father.

In the background is Villiers le Sec miltary hospital, and the

soldiers are wearing black berets with a Leek badge, identifying them as members of the Welsh Guards. In this area was 2nd Armoured Recce Battalion formed out of the Welsh Guards. The 2nd Armoured Recce Battalion formed the reconnaissance element of the Guards Armoured Division, VII Corps.

The division began unloading on the 22nd of June and was concentrated on the 11th of July ready for its first action during Operation Goodwood on July the 14th.
