This motorcycle combination probably formed part of a German Reconnaissance element of the 2nd Panzer division. It drove into an ambush laid by the 4th Canadian Armoured Division battlegroup that held this village. Note the building to the right, it is the same one seen in the previous picture.
St. Lambert-Sur-Dive was in the neck small corridor of land connecting the Falaise Pocket with the rest of France and was the scene of fierce fighting as SS troops fought to keep the way out of the pocket open for the escaping 7th Army.
