90mm M1 Anti Aircraft gun in action

A 90mm AA gun in action. Judging by the low angle of the gun tube the target is a low level Luftwaffe aircraft, or possibly a ground target. US the US Army went into action with hundreds of AA batteries many of which never earned their keep as anti aircraft units due to the Luftwaffes near absence from the western front for much of the time. They were often used against surface targets instead, and no less than 35,000 troops from these units were assigned to infantry units at the end of 1944. Each 90mm gun in a mobile battery needed 16 men.
