Much German material burned out, in the Falaise pocket area

A field full of burned German transport, it is hard to tell if Allied air or artillery action caused the damage, or if the vehicles were set on fire by their crews after they ran out of fuel.

In the top left are some half track APC's SdKfz 250 and a 251Ausf D. Other parts of the field has serveral Kübelwagen.

To the right in the middle is a SdKfz 7 prime mover limbered to a SFH-18 150mm Howitzer.

One of a series of low level pictures taken of destroyed German equipment that littered the Falaise Pocket area, much of it destroyed by Allied tactical airpower that roamed at will over the roads packed with the transport of the 7th Army as it tried to escape the pocket through the small corridor held open up to the 19th of August. Allied artillery and a simple shortage of fuel completed the loss of most of the armies transport and heavy weapons.
