View of damaged buildings, Domfront.

In the background is the tower of Saint Julien Church, with Alençon tower on the left.

On the far right is the name "Ries" drawn on a wall, probably let by the Germans who would place the name of a commanding officer on a wall so that stragglers of the unit could rejoin it.

On this occasion the officer in question could be Hauptmann Josef Ries of Sturmgeschütz-Brigade 394, a unit that was in the area in early August.

Same location in 2007
