Cherbourg "Liberty Club"

cherbourglibertyclub.jpg

Offering many a homesick GI a little piece of America this club run by the American Red Cross was setup in premises used before the war by the Ratti chain of stores, built in 1929 on rue Gambetta and designed by Cherbourg architect Rene Levavasseur who also designed the Harbour Station.

Outside are various French civilians and American servicemen including a Sailor. There are also a number of vehicles including motorcycles, jeeps and a GMC truck.
