A more detailed shot of the Flers train station under a cloud of dust and smoke on June the 5th under attack by the US 8th Airforce.

This was part of the Allied plan to seal off the Normandy battle area from the rest of France delaying the Germans from reinforcing their troops in the area.

108 civilians died in the two attacks, mainly in the night attack.

The town was finally captured from the Germans on the 17th of August by the British 11th Armoured Division.
