A very busy beach scene on Juno Nan Green sector on D-Day.

Several of the men carry a white band on their helmets designating them as members of a Beach Group. In the centre a Sherman III (M4A2) climbs up the beach. To its left is a armoured Caterpillar D7 bulldozer with LaPlant-Choate equipment. In the background another moves in the surf.

To the left of the picture are fascines (cut logs) dropped by a Churchill AVRE.

In the background is HMCS LCI (L) - 270, with HCS LCI (L) - 135 and HMS LCI (L) - 125 behind. These brought A Company. and 1st Platoon of D Company. Highland Light Infantry of Canada ashore as part of the follow up wave on D-Day itself.

Hidden betwen the other LCI's are LCI 306 of the 2nd Canadian (262nd RN) Flotilla and HMC LCI (L) 115 bring ashore the North Nova Scotia Highlanders of Canada.

Also mixed up on this beach are the smaller LCI (S) 202 and 514 of the 202nd LCI flotilla.

These were all part of Force J4 which landed 9th Brigade, of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division.
