Remains of German motor transport ravaged by combat with US troops, viewed from the other direction

In the foreground is a Sdkfz 251 halftrack with the registration SS 926256, a vehicle belonging to 1.SS-Panzer-Division Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler. Next to the halftrack lies the body of a German soldier.

They were destroyed by the 57mm AT guns of Platoon Sergean Miller Rhyne (120th Inf Regiment, 30th ID) and three 3-inch AT guns of 1st Platoon, A Co, 823rd TD Bn all under the command of Lieutenant T. Springfield who had positioned himself on the hill to the north of the railway station.
